The St. Finbar Student Council is an enthusiastic and hardworking group of 13 officers and 12 representatives from 3rd – 8th grade, and a student council moderator. Throughout the year, the student council meets every Tuesday during lunch in the 3rd grade classroom to discuss their upcoming events and ideas.
The student council is responsible for running the morning assemblies and the raising and lowering of the flags. Each morning, the Commissioner of Religious Affairs says the prayers, the President says the Pledge of Allegiance and announcements, and the Commissioner of Athletics announces tryouts, practices, games, and any exciting sports news. Every Thursday, the Commissioner of School Spirit hosts Finbar Funday in which there are trivia questions or small games for a specific grade level to participate in.
Every October, the student council promotes the importance of being drug free by having Red Ribbon Week. Every January, we promote the importance of catholic school education by having Catholic Schools Week. During both weeks, the student council plans daily activities for the students such as, Pajama Day, Red Day, Crazy Sock Day, Sports Day, etc. The student council also hosts holiday activities for the student body to participate in such as, Halloween Parade, Christmas Candy Cane Grams, Christmas Door Decorating Contest, Valentine’s Day Grams, etc.
The student council also embraces our faith and service by raising awareness and money for children in need through the Go4theGoal National Dress 4 Pediatric Cancer Day and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. We are truly blessed with so many giving and generous students and parents.
