St. Finbar's Newsletters
September 1, 2010 Saint Finbar NewsletterQuestion of the Week: Luke 14:1, 7-14 Do I see humility as a kingdom virtue and practice it, or do I push myself ahead of others? Question for Children: How can I make the new children at school feel welcome? Dear Parents, Saint Giles, Abbot September 1, 2010 Welcome to the first day of school. A special thank you to everyone for making all of our new families feel welcome, and to the PTO Board for a wonderful reception. Enclosed you will find your 2010-2011 Calendar and Student/Parent Handbook. Please sign the Policies Agreement Form located in the handbook, fill out the enclosed Emergency Card and Parent Email Contact Form, and return all three to the teacher tomorrow Thursday September 2. Morning Drop Off: If you are walking your child on to the campus in the morning, you have to use the Myers Gate, and you can not use the Valet Entrances located on Keystone and Oak. Question of the Week: Most weeks you will find a question at the top of this newsletter called the “Question of the Week.” It is based on the previous Sunday’s Gospel, and it is designed to get us thinking and sharing our thoughts about the Gospel. Please go over the question with your child each week. Also, every grade reviews on Friday the Gospel for Sunday so ask your child, on the way to Church, what the Gospel will be. We can all learn from our children! If the Wednesday letter falls on the Feast Day of a saint within the liturgical calendar, that too will appear on the top in italics. Please return your signed Wednesday envelope each Thursday. If your envelope is not returned by the following Tuesday morning, you will be charged a $1.00 replacement fee. Our first all school Mass is next Friday September 10 at 8:00am. All students must be in their Mass attire, although the sweaters will not be required until the weather cools. Families are welcome to attend the Mass, as well. Class Masses will begin on Monday September 13. Enclosed is the first Scrip order of the year. Scrip is a great way to complete your fundraising obligation without any “out of pocket” expense. Please contact Mrs. Gjonaj if you have any questions, or if you would like Scrip from a vendor not on the order form. Every month we award a Student of the Month. The theme for this month is “Off to a Good Start.” Beginning in October we will use our School Wide Learning Expectations, found in the school calendar, as themes. Please become familiar with these expectations. Thank you for helping and supporting us throughout the upcoming year. With God’s Blessings, Michael Marasco Principal |
